Whether you want a general interest caving course or a recognised NGB Caving qualification we have a caving course for you.

Introduction to Caving (Horizontal Caving – Level 1)

Max Ratio: 1:8

Time: 1 weekend commencing on Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.

Course Description: This is an introduction to caving and starts with a briefing & outline of the course on Friday night (including a practical session in The Labyrinth). Over the weekend you will be guided through a variety of caves in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. The course will access a selection of Level 1 caves introducing you to relevant caving topics such as basic geology, flora & fauna, basic rope work, access / the environment, weather & other related cave issues. But the main aim of this course is to get you exploring a variety of caves with the focus very much on fun.

Cost: £200 PP (residential – includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner)
£150 PP (non residential)

Introduction to Caving (Vertical Caving – Level 2)

Max Ratio: 1:6

Time: 1 weekend commencing on Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.

Course Description: This is the follow on course for those that want to experience vertical pitches, explore further and start to gain an understanding & experience of ladders & line caving, pick up valuable tips on the more technical side to caving. The opportunity to explore systems such as Yordas, Heron Pot and others in the glorious limestone systems of the Yorkshire Dales.

Cost: £220 PP (residential – includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner)
£170 PP (non residential)

Level 1 BCA Training Course

Max Ratio: 1:6

Time: 1 weekend commencing on Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.

Course Description: This is your first step into becoming a NGB recognised caving instructor. This weekend training course covers the caving skills & knowledge required for you to become a BCA Cave Leader.

Pre-requisites: You must have registered with the BCA and got your log book prior to attending the course. In addition to this you must have the necessary cave experience as outlined by the BCA in terms of the number cave trips (in a variety of different caves) and an understanding of the other issues related to becoming a Caving Instructor.

Cost: £180 PP (residential – includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner)
£130 PP (non residential)

Level 1 BCA Assessment

Max Ratio: 1:2 (personal day)
1:1 (group day)

Level 2 BCA Training Course

Max Ratio: 1:4

Time: 1 weekend commencing on Friday night through to Sunday afternoon.

Course Description: Covers the various areas related to SRT, ladder & line, vertical pitch caving enabling you to start to work towards your Level 2 Cave Assessment.

Pre-requisites: Although you don’t have to be a qualified Level 1 Cave Instructor it is advisable that are & in addition to this that you have a valid 1st Aid certificate and experience / understanding of SRT / ladder & line caving in a variety of different caves.

Cost: £210 PP (residential – includes accommodation, breakfast & dinner)
£160 PP (non residential)
